What

The linux.conf.au Systems Administration Miniconference is held as part of the official Linux.conf.au conference. Linux.conf.au is Australasia’s largest Linux conference, and attracts developers and users of free and open source software from around the globe.

The Systems Administration Miniconf focuses on tips, tricks, tools, and best practices used to manage real-world Linux environments both large and small. Attendees of this Miniconf improve their ability to manage their Linux systems environment both now and in the future, and meet others with similar goals.

An important aim is to provide talks directly useful to professional Linux administrators.

Call for Presentations

There will be a one day mini conference on Linux Systems Administration held as part of linux.conf.au 2019. LCA2019 will be held in Christchurch, New Zealand on 21 – 25 January 2019.

The organisers of the Systems Administration Miniconf would like to invite proposals for presentations to be delivered at the Miniconf. Please forward this CFP to your colleagues, peers, social networks, and other relevant mailing lists. Please help by encouraging submissions from people you would like to hear present at this Miniconf.

NDF2018 (National Digital Forum) Conference – Wellington – 19 – 21 November 2018

Registrations are now open and the detailed programme is now live for the premier digital conference for the gallery, library, archives and museums sector! Our 2018 line-up will make this NDF unmissable.

With outstanding keynotes and a whole host of speakers and workshops on offer – everything from data cleaning for non techies, managing born-digital archives, parsing parliament, GLAM data workbenches, a Wikipedian at Large… not to mention mapping stories in the residential red zone, the challenges of Chinese OCR and agile in te reo.

The National Digital Forum (NDF) is a network of people and organisations working together to enhance New Zealand’s digital interaction with culture and heritage. As a network, we connect together the people who are shaping our new digital culture, and we also work closely with museums, archives, art galleries, libraries, government, and the creative sectors to support their initiatives.

The National Digital Forum welcomes everyone to observe, participate, learn and grow together. Linux.conf.au 2019 – Christchurch – 21 – 25 January 2019

What

Linux.conf.au (often abbreviated as lca) is Australasia’s regional Linux and Open Source conference. It is a roaming conference, held in a different city every year, coordinated by Linux Australia and organised by local volunteers.

In January 2019 Linux.conf.au will held be in Christchurch at the University of Canterbury. The conference starts out with 9 Miniconfs spread over 2 days on the 21st and 22nd of January. The remainder of the conference, from the 23th to the 25th of January, has 80 talks and 8 tutorials spread over 6 parallel tracks.

Themed Linux of Things, the 2019 linux.conf.au will again attract speakers and attendees from across the world to socialise, fraternise, lecture, listen, ask, answer and share with their peers.

The conference will explore the use of free open source software and hardware for Internet of things devices, along with security concerns, privacy and legal aspects, environmental impacts, everyday communication, health, ethics, and much more.
